Learning R through Modelling Sports: An Interactive Introduction to the R Language

Job description

Dates available in 2020: Thursday 16th - Friday 17th April or Wednesday 24th - Thursday 25th June

At ATASS Sports, we apply cutting-edge statistical and mathematical techniques to forecast the results of sporting events, and in 2020 we'll be running two workshops on the statistical language R, and how it can be used to solve problems in the field of sports modelling.

During our two-day workshop, you’ll learn the essentials of R from the ground up, and will have the opportunity to work hands-on with real sports data under the guidance of our expert statisticians. While you're with us, you'll also get to sample the very best of West Country hospitality.

The event will be hosted in our award winning office, Oxygen House, in Exeter.  We will provide hotel accommodation and also reimburse expenses for travel to/from the workshop on public transport.

Requirements

Applications are welcomed from penultimate/final-year undergraduates or masters/PhD students in mathematics, statistics, physics or computer science. An interest or involvement in sport is also desirable. Places will be allocated on a competitive basis.

Please submit your application by Friday 31st January 2020
