IT Windows Engineer

Job description

Location: Oxygen House, Exeter, Devon

Term: Permanent – Full Time

Salary: Competitive (depending on experience) + Excellent Company Benefits

Application Closing Date: 20th October 2019

About The Role

We are recruiting for an additional team member to join our growing, close-knit IT team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Administrator/Engineer to further develop their career, working with a pioneering group of rapidly expanding companies, across a diverse portfolio of sectors, including education, renewable energy and statistical research.

This role, based within ATASS Sports, has a focus on managing and maintaining our Windows server estate, but you’ll have the opportunity to work across a wide range of other systems and services within our infrastructure. Innovation and optimisation are keywords here. You can expect a varied role that focuses on Windows, but branches out into virtualisation, networking, and infrastructure development when required. This is a predominantly systems rather than development role, but scripting skills with PowerShell and any automation knowledge could be useful.
About Us

Our story began in 1998 when Mark Dixon, a university statistics lecturer, decided to set up a one-man-band consultancy, offering statistical modelling and research services. Featuring near the top of a Yellow Pages listing was a priority at the time, and led to Mark opting for 'Advanced Training and Statistical Services,' or ATASS for short. Increasingly, his love of football led him to take on more and more sports-related work, and, by 2001, he and a handful of colleagues were working under the new identity of ATASS Sports.

Fast forward 20 years, and the company now boasts one of the largest commercial statistical research teams in Europe and is a leader in the field of the application of statistical modelling in sports. We have created and continue to develop a collection of statistical and mathematical models that allow sporting outcomes to be predicted with unparalleled accuracy

About You

If you are interested in working with Windows in a medium-sized business environment with enterprise level systems, and are looking to develop skills in this area, this may be the role for you.

A strong technical base and a keen interest in new developments and practises in IT, and an open mind when it comes to working within a small IT team, are a must.

You’ll have a calm and logical approach, strong time management skills and experience of navigating competing demands with a range of stakeholders. Strong, adaptive communication is vital in this collaborative role, with the ability to explain complex systems and concepts to non-technical staff.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or similar role with 2nd/3rd line support and some project experience
  • Experience designing and managing aspects of a Microsoft environment, in particular Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Cloud services such as Office 365, Azure AD, OneDrive and SharePoint
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high quality work
  • Excellent time management, problem solving and organisation skills
  • A team player with good communication skills

 Desirable:

  • Virtualisation (VMWare)
  • Networking (Juniper, Dell)
  • Patching (WSUS and/or SCCM)
  • Security (Firewall and Email Filtering Suites)
  • Storage Area Networks (Equallogic, Compellent, Pure)
  • Previous completion of on-premise to Office 365 migration
